Vigneti Repetto

Vigneti Repetto

The main characters behind VIGNETI REPETTO are Gian Paolo Repetto and his wife Marina.

In Italian there is a saying, "A door closes, a gate opens." This is just how I met them after searching for the perfect expression of Timorasso, wondering whether I would ever find it.

Being moved by the first sip of their Macerato, (100 % cortese grape variety) at one of my favorite restaurants in Moncalvo, and btw, if you love fettuccini al burro con tartufo, there is nothing that pairs better, or I would even suggest pairing it with marinated or baked salmon, fried anchovies, asparagus risotto, breaded chicken breasts or milanese cutlet.

Anyways I´m getting over excited just thinking about the wine, I thought I would pay them a visit. I followed their road instructions to find myself in their vast valley of vineyards and a brand-new winery. Their passion for what they do transpires from them and its a total pleasure to submerse yourself in their wines.
Their Timorasso is a wonderful combination of stringent acidity and depth. The acidity is indeed quite high and refreshing. It has been compared to Chenin blanc and Riesling with its citrusy freshness. But Timorasso has more a mouth-filling character. The body comes mainly from the aromatic grape itself, displaying yellow fruit aromas and nuts.

I dare you to pair this wine with fish, appetizers such as veal with tuna sauce, pad thai, vegetable curry with coconut milk, but remember Repetto´s Timorasso has complexity so pair it also with white meats, truffle risotto, chicken alla diavola, spaghetti allo scoglio.

After visiting the new winery, immaculate to say the least, I realised to have bumped into something extremely special. Thinking to be satisfied, I then tasted him, Monleale, their Barbera. From calcareous soil, very similar to those of the Barolo region, highly selected manual harvest of the best and fully ripe clusters, 12-24 months ageing in 500 l French oak tonneaux and then up to a year of bottle ageing before it is put out onto the market. Monleale displays bold red fruit, a highly fragrant intense wine, so juicy that one glass will not satisfy even the most skeptic of wine drinkers.

Aroma now representing VIGNETI REPETTO.
